The pressing need to protect our planet
Worldwide, the ‘Inconvenient Truth’ is that environmental alarm bells are now ringing loud and clear. Scientific facts show that global temperatures are increasing; forests are shrinking; deserts are expanding; ice caps are melting; sea levels are rising; plant and wildlife are rapidly disappearing; and the severity and frequency of droughts, bushfires, floods and storms are all set to significantly worsen.The plight of the humble frog (the acknowledged barometer of the ecological health of our streams and waterways) irrefutably points to the real trouble our planet is facing from climatic change and chemical waste.
In Australia alone, 3 entire frog species are already extinct; 14 more are critically endangered; and a further 29 are at serious risk of disappearing.
Nature is telling us ‘enough is enough’. Yet supermarket and shop shelves are still stacked with overly aggressive, chemical based cleaning and laundry products that eventually enter our waterways and ultimately cause serious pollution.
